A day of discovery

The official days of discovery in Stuttgart’s west end are over for this year – although that doesn't mean the journey of discovery ends there.

There were twenty-five stations providing the opportunity to discover art, craft and design, as well as culture, culinary delights and much more. Anyone who felt so inclined could go and collect the symbols on the subject of “Wellengang - stürmische Zeiten” (Waves – stormy times) assigned to the individual locations. Anyone with fifteen symbols and more could take part in the tombola.

Station fifteen with the teapot led to nannatextiles and on Saturday also to me. Along with the extraordinary shop concept “Die Handlung” from Lindau, I was one of the things to be discovered in Nanna’s artist’s workshop. My set of shelves, specially designed and handmade for the exhibition, were to be found just as you came in, on the right. Together with the photos on Forex plates, it reflected the motto of the whole event.

Despite the rainy weather and the fact that the outside temperatures had dropped considerably, visitors of all ages kept finding their way to the studio. A lot of them took time to study what was on offer in detail. At various points of the day, visitors were invited to listen to three talks. When it came round to my turn, I shed a little light on my approach to photography, my attention to detail and my point of view on aesthetics. I had had some of the photographic works addressed in the talk and the exhibition printed as high-quality A3 fine art prints. Along with the photo wall, the folders attracted a lot of attention. My precious postcards with colored borders turned out to be a big hit.

I was so grateful for the friendly conversations throughout and the consistently positive feedback! The day itself as well as the preparation beforehand were once again a valuable experience for me.

I would like to say a big thank you to friends and others who dropped by!
